AIR Centre strengthens Atlantic cooperation at Argentine naval visit in Lisbon

AIR Centre attended a maritime event today hosted by Argentine Ambassador Federico Barttfeld and Navy Captain Roberto Ariel Gestoso during the visit of Argentine training ship A.R.A. "Libertad" to Lisbon.

The event convened Portuguese and Argentine maritime representatives, along with other stakeholders, to address Atlantic Ocean governance and opportunities for cooperation. With extensive Atlantic coastlines, both nations confront shared challenges in marine conservation and the sustainable management of fisheries. AIR Centre's participation highlights its commitment to building international partnerships that drive marine research across the Atlantic basin.

This initiative demonstrates the growing awareness that today’s ocean governance challenges can only be addressed through joint efforts that cross national borders, strengthening the strategic value of Atlantic cooperation and paving the way for future research collaborations among Atlantic communities.
