Atlantic Aquaculture Forum returns for 2025’s edition bringing together aquaculture international experts to the Azores

The 2nd Edition of the Atlantic Aquaculture Forum 2025 will take place in the end of the year in Azores bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders. Miguel Miranda, Executive Director of the AIR Centre, emphasized the positive reaction of the participants regarding the inaugural edition of this Forum, which aims to gather a diverse range of experts, researchers, investors and enterprise along with the aquaculture specialists of Atlantic countries like Senegal, Angola and Cabo Verde. Miguel Miranda also highlighted the importance of this Forum to join people and resources and the need to promote an inclusive development in the Atlantic region, which aims to create opportunities for population and business sector. Romão Braz, Vice-President of Administration Council of Finançor, highlights the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in Aquaculture in Azores for the sustainable development of the sector. The Atlantic Aquaculture Forum could play a crucial role in the development of the blue economy in the maritime area of the Azores, creating concrete and practical actions and investments that could benefit the population. On September 10, partners from AIR Centre (Portugal), UNAM (Mexico) and IMar (Cabo Verde) held the kick-off meeting for ATLANTICO_SARG, a new triangular cooperation project funded under the second Call of the SEGIB / Camões, I.P. Triangular Cooperation Fund. Held online, the meeting brougtht together researchers and representatives from all three partner institutions to address the growing impact of Sargassum seaweed flooding on Cabo Verde's coasts.

Australian Ambassador strengthens scientific and diplomatic engagement during visit to the AIR Centre
