EuroGEO Webinar 2020

EuroGEOSS is the European regional initiative of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO), a worldwide network working to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS), that aims to improve user uptake of Earth Observation data and improve forecasting capabilities for sound decision-making by governments for Europe’s benefit. Since 2007, EuroGEOSS have been hosting an annual workshop to bring together European stakeholders interested in and actively contributing to the GEOSS. The event is a forum to exchange ideas and inform participants about work and initiatives undertaken in the context of GEOSS. The 14th edition of the EuroGEO workshop, scheduled for 8-10 June 2020 in Paris, has been postponed to 2021 due to the current global health situation. However, 14th edition organisers will still host a virtual event on 8 June 2020 (agenda) to bring the community together before the GEO Plenary 2020 to be held in South Africa on 2 - 6 November. International Workshop in the Azores strengthens marine biodiversity data sharing

The second edition of the Enhancing Marine Biodiversity Data Collection and Publication workshop took place on Terceira Island, Azores, from 19 to 23 October, bringing together researchers, data managers and marine practitioners from Europe, Africa and the Americas. Organised by the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (MBON) and the AIR Centre, the workshop focused on strengthening skills in marine biodiversity data collection, standardisation and publication.

Small pelagic stock assessment in Angola: strengthening the science behind sustainable catches

From October 19 to 23, 2026, a team from the AIR Centre returned to Luanda for a working meeting with colleagues from Angola’s National Institute of Fisheries and Marine Research (INIPM), the University of the Azores and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This is the second year of a partnership that supports the scientific assessment of Angola’s small pelagic fish stocks.

Laoshan Laboratory and AIR Centre sign MoU and formalise cooperation in marine science
