Copernicus Ambassadors Network opens opportunities for WG Africa Members

Members of WG Africa (Working Group Africa), of which the AIR Centre is part of, are now welcome to join the Copernicus Ambassadors Network, an initiative that promotes the use of Earth Observation data and services while connecting users with the opportunities offered by the European Union's Earth observation programme.

The opportunity reflects the growing role of the WG Africa community in strengthening cooperation between Europe and Africa through Earth Observation. As an active member of the group, the AIR Centre contributes to fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and capacity development, while supporting the use of satellite data to address environmental and societal challenges.

The Copernicus Ambassadors Network brings together organisations with recognised expertise in Earth Observation to raise awareness of Copernicus and encourage the uptake of its data, products, and services. Ambassadors support activities ranging from education and training to innovation, user engagement, and wider access to space-based information.

For the AIR Centre, the initiative aligns with its mission to advance international cooperation in science and technology and promote the use of Earth Observation for informed decision-making. This includes supporting applications in areas such as climate monitoring, environmental management, disaster risk reduction, marine observation, and sustainable resource use.

By participating in WG Africa and contributing to initiatives that expand access to Earth Observation, the AIR Centre continues to support stronger links between European and African institutions, helping ensure that satellite data and services can be more effectively used to address shared challenges and create new opportunities for research, innovation, and sustainable development.
