Webinar Projeto E5DES – Potencialidades das Unidades de Dessalinização em Regiões com Escassez de Água

On April 28th, the “Webinar Projeto E5DES – Potencialidades das Unidades de Dessalinização em Regiões com Escassez de Água” (“Project E5DES webinar - Potentialities of Desalination Units in Regions with Water Shortage”) will take place virtually  to present the project E5DES. It will be open to the public, but with mandatory registration. Free registration can be done on the following link: . The event will be held in Portuguese. The webinar will promote the project, by making a presentation on its goals, developments, and results until now, followed by a presentation on the Central Dessalinizadora de Porto Santo (Desalination Central of Porto Santo). It will also tackle the needs of desalination and the current efforts in Algarve and a final presentation about DESSOL: Sistema de demonstração de dessalinização com energia solar (Solar-powered desalination demonstration system) on the Ribeira Dom João station - Project DESAL+. The E5DES project builds up on the existing DESAL+ Living Lab, an ongoing INTERREG-MAC project led by ITC, and the AIR Centre is part of the consortium, together with Agencia Canaria de Investigación, Innovación y Sociedad de la Información, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Universidade de La Laguna, PLOCAN and AREAM, and with the external participation of the Université de Nouakchott AI-Aasriya (Mauritania), Universidade de Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) and Université Assane Seck de Ziguinchor (Senegal). The aim is to establish an internationally leading desalination lab. In the context of the strategic R&D plan for desalination of Macaronesia, the goals is to create the exclusive use of renewable energies (RE) for desalination, with focus on innovative solutions for the intelligent and sustainable management of desalination systems, which requires advancing engineering designs, simulations of operations and demonstrations at various scales. This project of territorial cooperation between Macaronesia archipelagos and Countries of Africa is to reinforce R+D+i of excellence in desalination that will be developed from the PLATFORM DESAL+ Living Lab., entrepreneurs and technology-based SMEs from these regions in terms of desalination and the water-energy sector.
