Open Call for Shipboard Training Offers Exciting Opportunities for Early Career Ocean Scientists

The 2024 Open Call for Shipboard training is now underway, marking its 6th edition. Designed to provide valuable shipboard fellowship opportunities aboard research vessels throughout the year, the initiative aims to foster the growth and development of early career scientists in the field of oceanography. The call is extended to early career scientists, technicians, postgraduate students (PhD or MSc), and Post-doctoral Fellows who are nationals of and actively involved in oceanographic work at centres in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Interested candidates are required to fill out an application form detailing their background, specific training interests, geographical preferences, and availability to travel throughout the year. The Secretariat will maintain a comprehensive database of qualified and interested candidates. As training opportunities emerge, shortlists will be created based on suitability for the particular project on offer. For further information on the Open Call and to apply, individuals are encouraged to visit the training page. Queries can be directed via email, and recipients are encouraged to circulate this announcement to potential candidates who may benefit from this enriching opportunity.
