No dia 10 de julho de 2026, das 13h00 às 14h00 UTC+0, realizaremos uma sessão especial com Jaume Piera, centrada no papel das metodologias participativas na monitorização da biodiversidade em grande escala. A participação pública na investigação é, de longe, uma das principais fontes e mais rentáveis de big data e de produção de conhecimento no monitorização da biodiversidade. No entanto, subsistem algumas preocupações quanto à qualidade dos dados comunicados pelos voluntários. Nos últimos anos, o conceito de «qualidade» tem vindo a ser alargado, assumindo uma dimensão multidimensional. Observações precisas para compreender o estado e a dinâmica da biodiversidade devem ser consideradas como um dos componentes importantes, mas outros podem desempenhar um papel fundamental na identificação de padrões de biodiversidade: a exaustividade (maximização do número de observações por unidade de tempo ou espaço) ou a oportunidade (identificação precoce das espécies-alvo) são dois exemplos de novos componentes a considerar neste conceito alargado e multidimensional de qualidade. Nesta apresentação, estes conceitos serão discutidos, nomeadamente no âmbito de dois projetos da UE: os resultados do ANERIS, que terminará este ano, e os desafios abordados no BEAGLE, com início previsto para outubro.
