Virtual Stakeholder Event “Coastal Resilience: An Atlantic Ocean of Action”

The All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) is excited to announce a Virtual Stakeholder Networking Event titled “Coastal Resilience: An Atlantic Ocean of Action,” scheduled for 5 September 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. The event will inform participants about and invite them to engage in the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance Action Area on Increasing Resilience of Coastal Communities. Agreed by the Members of the Alliance, this Action Area has the aim of:
Increasing our understanding of the relationship between the ocean and climate and developing outcome-oriented science for mitigating and adapting to the consequences of climate change, particularly for the benefit of increasing resilience of coastal communities.
Attendees are invited to share their needs, visions, and opinions on coastal resilience, supported by insights from speakers showcasing the activities of diverse coastal communities. Meeting with the Hon Consul‑General of the Kingdom of Tonga strengthens dialogue on ocean science and climate cooperation

On 2 July, the AIR Centre hosted a meeting at its Lisbon office with the Comendador Anthony Bailey, Honourable Consul-General of His Majesty The King of Tonga to the Portuguese Republic. The discussion brought together AIR Centre Executive Director Miguel Miranda, Deputy Executive Director Mafalda Carapuço, and researcher Ana Faria, marking the beginning of a promising dialogue between the two nations.
